Upon reflection...

I think I like my "ugly back-up glasses" and won't spend money on new ones yet. The ones I'd been wearing all the time had been the free ones of the "buy one get one free" deal from six years ago, and I'd never worn these expensive ones. I took people's advice from the comments in this post where I showed off the glasses, and plucked my eyebrows (and even put a tiny bit of eyeliner pencil on them) and wore eye makeup today. That helped, and they made me look more professional. I went and bought some new clothes (at Ricki's, with their lovely end-of-season sales) and decided that I'm happy with these.

Even better, I discovered that I don't actually need a stronger prescription: it's just that those other glasses had gotten all scratched up. Since I've never worn these for any length before, I can see through them perfectly.

(Still, I'm going to miss those glasses. I really like dark-rimmed glasses, and my face feels so naked wearing gold ones that blend in with my skin and my hair.)

I like them, personally. And they DON'T blend in to your face and hair--it's just that they don't stick out as much as the other pair did. I think these do look very nice and very professional, and frankly rather grown-up.

I like them! You look great.

Sure, they're nice, but do they give you x-ray vision?

See what a difference your attitude towards them makes? they looked frumpy before because you didn't like wearing them, now they just look like regular glasses on your lovely face!
