This semester just got more interesting

So, I'm TAing for one of my favourite profs for half of this semester. It's only for half because she's in the late stages of pregnancy (her due date is at the beginning of Spring Break), and after Spring Break a sessional's taking over for her. (And that sessional's contract only starts after Spring Break.) She's been preparing us for the "What if I go into labour early, or end up on bedrest, considering the fact that I'm due in three weeks." The plan involves closely-related DVDs and the other TA and I not lecturing, but we hadn't gotten to the place where we'd gotten any of the materials yet.

So, I just got word that the prof went into labour today and is now in the hospital.

My thought process, immediately following this news: 1.) "I hope she and the baby are okay;" 2.) "Oh my goodness, I think I'm temporarily in charge of a course that's outside of my field;"
3.) "It's sure a good thing that I've already scheduled a meeting with the sessional for tomorrow morning."

So, I'm sure the department has some sort of contingiency plan in place (I really hope that the plan is "start the sessional's contract three weeks earlier than expected," since she's taught the course a billion times before, or maybe the prof has already gotten this set of DVDs together and this is what I'm going to be doing twice a week for the next few weeks), but dude. Dude.
