Would you believe...

...that Chris and I are actively planning on taking tennis lessons in May?

We've been talking about playing tennis since we moved here, especially because there are nice (and free) courts just down the street from us. I used to play a bit of tennis when I was a kid (my brother and I had racquets, but I think Michael has both of ours now), and I wasn't terrible. I really liked tennis. And then Chris and I noticed that the rec centre near us offers tennis lessons all the time, including something called "Instant Tennis," which is a good price and they give you a free racquet.

Now. Would it be overdoing it if I went out and bought tennis clothes? You know, the white shirt and skirt? And the headband? I don't know if I could convince Chris to wear white shorts and a headband.

Buy the outfits! BUY-THE-OUTFITS! That would be awesome.

Funny you should post this: I was just commenting to Dixie (after watching a movie from the 70s or 80s) that nobody seems to play tennis any more. Of course, most of my experience is limited to small town Saskatchewan, so...

Does Chris really like short-shorts?

I played some tennis as a little chap as well.

None of those comments were biting or satirical. Thank goodness for the pun.

Big c, between the tennis and the gymnastics classes, I'm highly amused by your childhood.

Thanks for the support, Marc! Sweet.

Chris, Shorts are fine...but they had better be manly and they had better not be white.

PS. Take lessons and I'll whip you (Chris, not you Maryanne) the next time we get together

Chris's response: "Apparently Dad plays tennis?"

Maryanne's response: Folks, witness the reinforcement of gender paradigms in action. :)

(Have I mentioned that both my parents and my in-laws read this blog? This really is the way in which my family keeps up on what's going on with us.)

Last night at choir, LYn kept imagining you guys in the outfit, and then she'd laugh aloud. It was good.

Listen here, Squidget. I'll take you and your furry kind in any battle of tennis.

After I take lessons.
