Music Monday

Chris has been spending all his commuting time listening to CBC Radio 2, and has been listening to Radio 3 online when he marks, and as a result of all that, he now has better taste in music than me.  Today he told me that I should start listening to the Canadian singer Basia Bulat.  I actually showed him the video for her song "In the Night" a year ago (I think Kate Beaton had linked to it on her Livejournal), and then I promptly forgot all about it.  He ran across the song again this week and thought to himself, "My wife would really like all her music."

I had an iTunes gift card to use up, and so I ended up buying her whole 2007 album Oh, My Darling.  Chris is very pleased with this development.

And then I used a little bit of the rest of the gift card and bought the Nina Simone song "Feeling Good," because it was featured on tonight's (fantastic) episode of Chuck and I was reminded of how much I love this song.

I'm having fun putting together a new writing soundtrack, because I'm tired of my old study music right now.  And I needed some more cheerful music.  Cheerful is good.

I found Basia Bulat a couple of months ago! Amazing stuff.

Tonight Ky was showing me photos of her thesis writing outfit while we browsed etsy and modcloth for items for her dissertation costume. I've decided that I'll just make an official sound track of all the songs/albums/artists that I've listened to on loop during writing sessions.

Thesis writing outfit? Dissertation costume? Well, I hope she doesn't have lucky socks or even worse, underwear that she won't wash until her thesis is completed. Ball players can maybe get away with that.
