Interesting/scary article (with bonus QoWP Paranoid Response)

From CBC Health: "Kids' eating habits worsened since '98" (according to a study by the Ontario Heart and Stroke Foundation which investigated kids' consumption of vegetables).

It's the usual sort of article we've all been reading for years, except that this line stood out:

"It is staggering to think that the children in the streets and schools outside this building are calculated to have a life expectancy that is now less than that of their parents," said Dr. Andrew Pipe of the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Ottawa.

"This is unheard of virtually in the history of evolution of the human species, and it clearly is a call for action."

Some readers responded to this article by blaming parents. Some blamed the high demands of the workforce. Some blamed the high cost of healthy food. I responded by realising that I hadn't had a vegetable with my lunch, and then going to eat some carrots, out of fear that my sometimes-negligence of vegetable eating is shortening my life span. Because that's how I roll: swinging back and forth between laziness and being convinced that everything's going to kill me.

I was going to comment something serious but then my word verification was "gringo" and it made me forget what I was going to say.

Ah, yes, Gringo the Lilacs".
Kids eating habits are shaped by parents to a great degree.
