Old-School (Canadian) Thanksgiving

I'm on my laptop. Chris is on the phone with his sister (now back from Ireland). Meg's beside me, reading Harry Potter. Karl's been methodically chopping potatoes, as the water boils and boils.

And we've made far more pies than we'll be able to eat this weekend.

And for this, I am thankful

Happy Thanksgiving!

I wish we celebrated it in October like y'all do. By November it is too close to Christmas, right at my wedding anniversary and way too far into the semester to be a meaningful break.

Enjoy your holiday!

Sister: apple pie, cherry pie, peach pie, two pumpkin pies, and pumpkin tarts. All in all: successful. Also, we ate herb-roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing and spaghetti squash.
