Dangerous Discoveries

Discovery #1: WKRP is finally going to be released on DVD! Huzzah! Season One is going to be released at the end of May. Apparently, they managed to get some of the the copyright stuff with the music worked out. Not all of it, but it's not like the badly-dubbed syndicated version. I'm so very very pumped.

Discovery #2: Um, Chris and I are insane, and apparently we actually can pick up TV channels from our basement suite. We'd just kept hitting the "up" button with the channel button, forgetting that it was set to the Regina stations. Yes, we really are special. It turns out that we pick up two very clear stations (neither of which are CBC -- Victoria doesn't actually have a CBC station). So, I at least get two stations. Trouble. (Good thing that those channels don't have very good shows. Although we get some fuzzy CityTV from Vancouver, which plays reruns of Battlestar Galactica.)

TV can be interesting. I am a sci-fi nut. Recently I had someone show me some links on the internet that claimed "Battlestar Gallactia" (both the original and the new remake) are based solidly in Mormonism. What are your thoughts?

Well, the original Battlestar Galactica was written as an allegory for the Mormons' trek across America and to Salt Lake City. There are still elements of that in the new series, such as the government being based on a quorom of 12. However, with the new series, they've woven in a bunch of Greek religion, plus elements of Christianity and a bunch of other religions, with a dash of Bladerunner.
