Now I'm (Twenty-)Six; I'm as clever as clever...

I think I'll stay (twenty-)six now forever and ever!

Here's the birthday cake that I made. The cake itself is just a usual chocolate cake mix from a box, but the icing! The icing is heavenly. It's Martha Stewart's Seven-Minute Frosting, and it's essentially a meringue. All you do is cook a bunch of egg whites together with sugar, and then beat it forever. (I did for more than five minutes, so that it wouldn't be too runny.) As a variation, I also added half a teaspoon of almond extract and half a teaspoon of vanilla, in place of the teaspoon of vanilla.

And now, I'll spend my day doing the following: a.) staying in my pyjamas as long as possible; b.) eating banana bread; c.) getting two hours' worth of work done; d.) straightening up before people come over; e.) talking over webcams with certain little girls; f.) having my friends Kat, Andrea and Rebecca over for games and cake this evening. That's the pace of a birthday that I can handle.

EDITED TO ADD: It's also the birthday of the little boy upstairs! Today he turned 12, and he sent down a piece of his ice cream cake to share with me. I'll have to save a piece of my cake and take it up tomorrow. So cute.

Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to me! Happy birthday dear UUUUUUuuuussss! Happy birthday to us!

I always forget that we share our birthday (it is today, right?). Cool.

Also, John Lennon was shot on our birthday. (I probably told you that last year too).

I checked your archives and I see you made mention of JL then. And on the very day! At the most I can argue (and I may have done so on my blog) that my birth precipitated the assassination of JL. Not that we should be proud of such a thing.

Cool! I forgot that we have the same birthday! Same with the youngest Ramsey kid (Chris) -- he's 21 today. Plus, my cousin Kevin's 24 today, and my twin cousins Carl and Max are 14.

This is one busy birthday!

Happy birthday, Marc!

(And now we'll take a moment and remember the day that I killed John Lennon by being born.)

Indeed, well said Marc. Happy Birthday to us!

I am not so sure of being a youngster though. Actually everyone thinks that I am the eldest child of the three of us.

Happy Birthday Maryanne! Uncle Traveling Matt sends greetings from Sudbury. And is talking about himself in the third person. Because that's just the way he is, after he's been working on geochemistry for 11 hours.

Hope you had a happy birthday!

And strangely enough, 26 was my last birthday too (well, until I'm thirty-- because I've heard that's the BEST birthday).

Seriously, kf, I'm beginning to suspect that the vast majority of Female Grad Student Bloggers are 26. There are a whole bunch of us.
