Beside Myself with Excitement

What's this? Tomorrow and Sunday they're forecasting snow! Snow! I hope we all know what that means, here in Canada's Most Sheltered City: chaos! People abandoning their vehicles! The possibility of buses not running! Locals having flashbacks to an exaggerated remembrance of "The Blizzard of '96"!*

And it's going to be even earlier than last year's single day of snow (which melted as it touched the ground). I think I'm going to spend the weekend wandering around and watching drivers abandon their vehicles. At least it'll be on a weekend, meaning that parents can't keep their kids home from school.

* Seriously, read the story. It's hilarious.

In defense of Victorians, my dad happened to be in Victoria for the Blizzard of '96, and he is a tough winter Saskatchewan/Albertan to the core- and even he called it a pretty bad blizzard.

But it was more tough because the city has no snow-removal equiment, than because it was a particuarly bad blizzard. And it's become a thing of legend, where bus drivers tell you how many feet of snow fell, and how it stayed for weeks, and how many dozens of people died.
