Until now, I've been referring to historians using gender-specific pronouns. ("His theory," "she challenges this..."). I've now encountered a historian whose first name is "Beeke."
"The historian..." and "This study..." it'll have to be!
(Page 15! Last paragraph before the conclusion! Oh yeah, and then I have to go back to the beginning and write a clarification about what I'm doing and why it's important, and edit my introduction. But that's part of the editing.)

I'll probably be changing my name to Beeke on Monday. That's a good name.
Beeke de campo. It has a nice ring to it.
