Recently, I made certain claims about my local public library. Specifically, I claimed that it did not lend out free movies and CDs, outside of educational materials. This was one of the many reasons why I missed Saskatchewan, my socialist paradise.
Well, I was searching for a book in the public library catalogue (if the stupid book is published in this city, why don't any of our libraries carry it?), when I noticed a film title in the list of possible titles. That got me to searching. It turns out that Chris and I didn't look hard enough when we were at the downtown library. It also turns out that the largest movie collection is at the branch nearest our house.
All of this makes sense, considering the fact that I live in a city where everyone appreciates the sharing of free stuff. In fact, most of the movies that I looked up are checked out (and don't even try to find something from this year -- there are 255 holds on The Constant Gardener). But they are there. Over 1600 titles. Plus a bunch of TV shows.
I have a feeling that this will become a steady feature of Chris and my summer, after these courses are over.
And so, to my public library: sorry about that. Keep up the good work, and I'll be seeing you soon.

Do they have battlestar gallactica?
No. No they don't. That's the unfortunate part.
Did KY seriously just ask that question?? Maryanne, WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER??
And she hasn't even seen an episode yet.
My student library has Pulp Fiction. It's gone every Friday, even though the scene where Samuel L Jackson quotes from Ezekiel has been rewound and played back so many times it's entirely unrecognizable.
