What can I say? I watched the elections with interest (although I was curiously detached), and I watched the election (albeit to a minority government, meaning that they'll have to co-operate with other parties to stay in power) of the first Conservative government since I was in grade 8. (Which, incidentally, was the last time I supported the Conservatives. I became way more lefty after that.) The QoWP of a year and a half ago would have been so angry. The QoWP of today is just curious to see what on earth will happen next. (Considering the fact that I've spent my entire teen and adult life under a Liberal government, I really am curious to see how another party would run the country.) How will Stephen Harper handle the role of Prime Minister? What sorts of policies will he introduce? How will he interact with the provinces? How will he handle our international affairs? What will his relationship with the US be? Okay, so I'm also a little nervous.
See you next election, folks. (Derek's calling 2008. I want to see how the government interacts before I make any calls. I think the fact that Paul Martin stepped down from Liberal leadership might slow the process down a little, from tankzilla's call of October 2007.)
(By the way, last night people on the news were speculating about whether Belinda Stronach will run for Liberal leadership. If she became the Liberal leader? We'd want Peter McKay to take over Conservative leadership. And that? Would be the best election ever. Because, when it boils down to it, Chris and I are all about the celebrity gossip.)
