It's a little after 10:00pm here, and I'm getting sleepy. The past few days have been packed, and it's been good.
Yesterday, I had a joyful reunion with the Wee Girlie. (And this has me delving into my posts from May, when I was her nanny for a month.) That little girl was so excited to see "Auntie Mary," so much so that she wouldn't let me out of her sight for as long as she was awake. She had to show me everything that was new (especially her Big Girl room and Big Girl bed), I had to sit beside her at supper, and I had to be the one to help her with her pyjamas and read her bedtime story. I'm always surprised that she remembers me at all; most of my little cousins would play shy with me, if they hadn't seen me in a few months, and yet WG and I still have our old understanding.
She was so grown up (at all of two years and eight months), completing big kid puzzles, and explaining to me about how there's a baby in her mommy's tummy. She'll be going to preschool in the fall, which means that sometime in the near future I'll have to stop referring to her as my baby. But she still curls up with me, so that we can read together. I can't wait to give her her Christmas present. She's going to be beside herself, having a Duck Feet of her own (she fell in love with Meg's copy and always kept it near her, at my house).
It was good to see that whole little family. (Brandy and I talked until far too late, especially for the nearly-nine-months-pregnant woman.)
In other news, welcome new academic bloggers, who found me through the Teaching Carnival! That latest Carnival has me thinking about my teaching experience again (which is good, because I'm going to be involved in a lot of professional development, when I get back after Christmas). I have a post brewing within me regarding my past four years as a Teaching Assistant.
