(By the way: I'm too lazy to change the time zones on Blogger right now, so add two hours to get my current time.)
On Wednesday, before I left, Karl called and told me that the weather went ugly just in time for me to come home. You see, Regina and Victoria went for about a week with the same weather: no snow and above zero. That is, until I flew in. Actually, there were several prairie girls all flying home that day (Becca's sister who lives in Seattle, and a girl I grew up who now lives Texas), and so maybe our combined weather wimpiness brought Wednesday's blizzard.
When I talked to Brandy on the phone last night, she even said, "Well, you got that snow you were praying for!" and so apparently people really do think I brought it here. But it really added to the sudden change between by two queen cities. On Wednesday, it was a beautiful and sunny day in Victoria. The grass was green and the roses were blooming. Then, I had a lovely and dream-like nighttime flight across the country (my new most favourite thing ever is flying over the snow-covered Rockies at night, with lit-up towns looking like golden rivers) and landed in this snowy city. I had to re-adjust my eyes to looking at Regina: now I look at the sky instead of the skyline again. There are no glimpses of mountains and ocean here.
I had a lovely day yesterday, shopping for little black dresses with Meg and Becca (I got one for $25 at the Bay!), decorating the tree with Michael and Nicole, and going out for late-night Boston Pizza with Karl. I even had an hour-long talk with my Grandma.
I'm back with a vengeance.
In other news: In the progress of looking bridesmaid dresses for Meg and Karl's wedding, we discovered that all of the plus-sized stores (and all the stores that carry plus sizes) in the city have decided not to carry dresses this season. They all have gone more casual, or into dress pants and a couple of token skirts. All of the stores claimed that the market for dresses is down this year, and so they decided to stop carrying them. Does this make anyone else as angry as it made us? (Yes, we're aware that ordering from a bridal shop is still an option, but that's pretty outrageous, considering that us other two bridesmaids are able to just get something off the shelf for cheap.)

How "cheap" is cheap? I've found some bm dresses for really cheap through www.houseofbrides.com -- many easily under 150 USD.
Wish you guys luck with the bm dress search. It's crazy to say the least :(
Ok, I totally thought by "bm" you meant "bowel movement." It took me a few seconds, but I got it.
Hey, lets all go punch the people who make plus sized clothes. First it was tapered legs, and now this. Tapered legs? WHAT MAKES YOU THINK WE CHUBBY PEOPLE LOOK GOOD WITH TAPERED LEGS?
Actually, tapered legs are great for plus-sized people - they follow the natural line of the leg, giving the illusion of length. I found this out because the same applies for short people. Tapered legs make you look slimmer and taller.
Or it makes you look like you have a giant buttox. You can have long legs and a huge butt (I am a testimony of it). I can see it working on people with shorter legs, though. Or people with smaller butts and shorter legs.
I agree with Ky - the people who make plus-sized clothing should be punched. What were they thinking?! Would it be possible to have it made? You can find some really cheap deals on fabric sometimes, and a simple dress design shouldn't be too expensive, especially if you have a friend who likes to sew. My shirt for Terra's wedding cost about $10 total.
That's true. There are some really nice plus sized patterns out there (I used one for Maryanne's wedding). And you can even get simple ones that you can make yourself.
