Revelations of the Evening

Confession: I have married a hard-core Trekkie. Like, the kind who gets mad at the other apparently "lesser" people who post information about Star Trek on the Internet, because they got some technical detail about the warp drive on an alternate timeline Enterprise wrong, and it turns out that The Next Generation was wrong, and suddenly he's gotten out all of these books with blueprints to the Enterprise, and.... He's reading a chapter right now called "Warp Propulsion Systems."

I think I have the vapours now. Where's my fainting couch? Where are my smelling salts?

In other news: RIP Shelob, who was brought to an it's-about-timely death by Chris's runner this evening. Shelob decided to make another appearance in the kitchen and now he is no more. In lieu of flowers, please send spider traps. The city of Ottawa has already erected a life-sized statue in Shelob's memory:

If that's a life-sized statue, I wanna see Chris' shoe.

Chris should probably know that even StarTrek.com, apparently, doesn't recognize Riker's future/alternate universe ship as a legitimate Enterprise. It might let him sleep a little easier.

Oh my goodness, reading Bernie's blog (well, the comments, really - I think the post was in some foreign language) was about the funniest thing I've seen in awhile. I love you all. I really do know all of the most fantastic people in the world.

p.s. My word verification was rmrtvur, which for some reason made me think of King Arthur's non-existent evil twin brother.

When you need Chris to channel some of that Trekkie nerdiness, you know where to find me.

Derek out.

Spiders are good they eat bugs. Recently I had two fairly large onews, about five inches in diameter, in my office eating bugs. One of them is now in the restroom. I do not know where the other one went. I wish they would both get back to the office and eat more bugs.

Ohmigosh! From that photo, I can tell that Shebol was an expectant mother. Heartless spider killer!! Did you not read "Charlotte's Web"?
