Pleasant

Our friend Matt's here for a week! We played lots of board games tonight, and took a walk. Knowing what he's like, this week I'll probably get more work done than usual, eat more healthily, and get a lot of exercise. We already have a climb up Mt. Tolmie and some potential canoeing planned.

Okay, now that Matt's asleep: back to reading for the American class. We have the promise of all the Walt Whitman and Mark Twain and stuff that we're going to be reading soon, but right now? Dry stuff about the myth of the frontier.

I know him! I'm jealous. Have a great week, you three.

THE frontier myth? Like, Turner's frontier myth? Cause if that's what it is, you are mocking the basis of my FAVOURITE class ever - film and the frontier. It will make you look at The Big Lebowski VERY differently.

I know that it's going to be interesting, but reading Turner directly was really dry and I kept falling asleep. It wasn't as bad as reading the Communist manifesto, but still. When I read stuff based in Turner, then it was better.

After reading the Communist manifesto, everything else seems interesting. Only thing I have ever fell asleep reading. I think it was the only way my brain could cope.

Lyn, you'll be happy to know that some researchers looked more closely at Turner's claims this year, and discovered that he was right in most of his claims. Yep, I learned that today.

Turner was boring like poop. I should have said that before. SO boring. But I've read it a bazillion times now so if you ever want my notes, or my theories as to how Turner relates to Judy Garland's The Harvey Girls, just ask. And if you want to hear the F word a whole lot, ask your twin how it relates to Fight Club.

At first, I only saw the end comments, such as "Turner was boring like poop." And I said to myself, "Self, am I boring like poop?" And then I discovered I am not the only Turner in the lives of Lyn and Maryanne. So I was relieved, because I assumed that I was not the Turner that Lyn called "boring as poop." I still could be, but at least Lyn hasn't said it. Yet. But I will take credit for the previous comment from Maryanne: "You'll be happy to know that some researchers looked more closely at Turner's claims this year, and discovered that he was right in most of his claims." Yay! The academy has discovered I was right all along? About what, is yet to be determined.

Derek out.
