Bright Orange

Yesterday, in addition to all the other stupid things I managed to do, I tore my pants while I was on my way to a meeting with a prof. It was more like the seam came apart, on a brand-new pair of pants where I'd torn open the temporarily sewn-shut pockets rather than using a seam ripper. Apparently, that was a bit too much for the seam right beside my right pocket, and when I put my hands in my pockets when I approached the bus, the seam came right apart along my hip. Exposing two whole inches of bright orange underwear. And the tear kept gaping.

The good thing was that I could stretch my shirt to cover the tear, but I had to be vigilant to keep my shirt over my hip, or I'd be showing bright orange underpants to everyone on the bus, or to my prof. And I was so busy that it was a good couple of hours before I could go to the campus drug store and buy some safety pins.

Of course it also happened when I was trying to be all grown-up and professional and wear nice clothes to school, and then I spent a couple of hours of that would-be professional time figeting with my clothes and accidentally showing my underpants.

Bright orange bloomers! Why does this not surprise anyone? At least you have a good excuse for the ripped seam, not simply trying to put 50 lbs of mud in a 5 lb sack.

congrats on the bright orange! very nice. unfortunate about the brand new pants though. where did you buy them so we can all avoid shoddy workmanship?

C: I got them at Ricki's, and normally they're a lot more reliable than most places. Actually, it really looks like I caused that tear, when I forced open the pockets without a seam ripper. At least it'll be an easy fix: it really is just the stitching that came apart, and I'll be able to sew it shut in three seconds.

Oh dear! LOL! I'm sorry to laugh but I can't help it. I do feel for you though...I once spilled a bright red smoothie down the front of my khaki skirt right before I was going to teach. Good times ;-).
