A National Travesty

Via Lynnie: Please tell me this is a terrible joke. Anne of Green Gables: A New Beginning, where Gilbert is killed off in WWII? Considering the fact that Anne and Gilbert celebrated like their thirtieth anniversary during the First World War...

Over and over again, Kevin Sullivan keeps trying to destroy my beloved Rilla of Ingleside. He is even deader to me than he was before.

Discuss. Also: favourite LM Montgomery book. Also also: Barney Snaith from The Blue Castle: hottest of all the Montgomery males?

Toss up between Barney and Dean, on account of Dean smoulders (but is evil). Ok, Barney wins. HOTT!

I seriously hate this! I hated the last movie too, since it didn't even remotely follow the books.

there are so many good LM Montgomery books that he hasn't made into a movie yet, why does he have to make stuff up? and why can't he pick on another author? and omg of course it is barney snaith! he lives on an island in muskoka! he already has my heart!

History Enthusiast: I don't acknowledge the last movie either. Ruining my Rilla of Ingleside over and over...

C: No, I don't think we want Kevin Sullivan touching any more LMM books, thank you. Maybe we could convince him to make this just a story he made up about WWII, and he could rename the characters. Her name will be Nan, and she'll be mourning the death of her husband Dilbert.

And I forgot that you'd particularly love Barney because he has an island in Muskoka. Canadiana girl.

JustMe: Oh, I love Anne's House of Dreams so much. I made a point of reading it again when I'd just gotten married and moved far away from my family, to the ocean. (And Gilbert is completely lovely.)
