I didn't get a lot of pictures of my birthday, but I did get pictures of some of the nice things people have made for me, and I wanted to share the ingeniousness of my friends with you:
First off: Chris's magnificent cake!
He made a chocolate cake, poked it full of holes, soaked it with a caramel spread, iced it with whipped cream, sprinkled on Skor bits, and called it "Turtle Cake." You are jealous right now.Here is a silly picture of me blowing out the candles:
And then people sewed me pretty stuff! My friend Christina (you may know her around here as "C") made a custom tea cozy for my Bodum, and it looks all pleasant like a Hawaiian shirt for my teapot. She posted it on her blog, and so I'll just link to it here. (Update: I just realised you can see it in the background, in the above picture. See, Christina? I'm using it!) Isn't it adorable?And then my friend Andrea made me a reversible apron! Chris took some pictures of me where I'm pretending to be the one to have made tonight's pasta sauce:
Adorable! And flattering! The best part is, if I get a stain on one side, I can flip it over.And so, in summary: I associate with very talented people. And then I reap the benefits.

The apron is ADORABLE! You could wear sweats and a tank top, and still look fabulous while baking. Soo wanting the pattern for the apron.

You guys should check out Andrea's own apron, which she sewed first. Completely adorable!
