Taking my rage out on Top Model instead of today's election...

Could someone please cast Sarah in a Dove commercial or something? This episode was just too messed up, with its message of "There's no place in the modeling world for normal-sized girls. And so you're either going to have to go up about four clothing sizes or down eight."

But I have great hopes for next week's episode: the preview makes it look like the girls get abandoned in the desert. It looks like all of Chris's wishes ("You're going to have to survive on your wits! Whoever survives is America's Next Top Model!") will come true.

I was just thinking exactly the same thing. What bs!

Maybe they will just leave them in the desert....

I don't watch the show -- but I'd think that the one with a little more "meat" on her bones would have an advantage...

I know! and all this while one of the ridiculously skinny girls requires medical attention for overheating. which happens to one of the ridiculously skinny girls every single season.

Trust me, I am not playing devil's advocate but it comes down to some thing called sample sizes. These are the sizes designers make available for photo shoots, fashion shows and whatnot. Usually they only have one size per outfit.
Fashion designers prefer the very small sizes because the lack of curves on the model means very little "fiddling" with the dress needs to be made for it to fit.

Sarah just happens to be too big for high fashion sample sizes and too small for plus size sample sizes. I think the judges of the show were just commenting on the reality of the industry rather than agreeing with it.

Teacher Lady: the problem is the fact that she really wasn't much bigger when she started. They brought her into the contest doubting that she was really a plus size, and then calling her "normal sized." (And then Tyra was all "Hey, I'm normal-sized, too!")
Sarah was actually surprised by how much smaller everyone was than her, and was not going in there as a plus sized model. Her size was at most an 8, but maybe a big-chested 6. They didn't start calling her "plus-sized" until they started accusing her of losing weight, around when she got her hair cut, demonstrating her long neck, and started wearing more revealing clothing.

And so they should have started off not taking her at all, if there is no market for the inbetweens, and not have given her this ridiculous complex about her weight.
