Two unrelated aggravations

One: It's Funding Application Season again! This time with added pressure: a.) university funding dries up after the third year, and b.) I need to find a way to fund a research trip to Germany, meaning that I can't rely on sessional work next year! And with the added pressure of the fact that I'm feeling really intimidated by my lack of German progress and will have to have my German abilities (or lack thereof) assessed for one of my funding applications.

You've been forewarned. I'm a special kind of anxiety-ridden during this season. (And I'm a special kind of depressed in the late winter and spring, during Rejection Season.)

Two: When I was an undergrad, why did I have to pick an Arch-Nemesis in my program who would eventually become a regular feature on my TV? Especially one who would become a regular feature on my TV (as an "expert") right at the time when I'm feeling particularly non-spectacular about my own progress?

Okay, maybe those two aggravations aren't completely unrelated.

Yuck ! Funding season... It's a condition that affect us all, and I've been dreaming about a monstruous roundtable of angry professors reading outloud and commenting my scholarship applications twice since two weeks. Hang on and thanks for the email. I'll respond as soon as I can !

Should you be glad that "Sugar Beets" is a TV expert? How else will you have the opportunity to mock him? Do you like the nickname I gave him? Classic. I am Spartacus.

Teacher Lady: it does give me good opportunities to shake my fist at the TV.

Mireille: Yuck. Dreaming about the applications already?
