First writer's block, and now insomnia? The readers of QoWP are in for a treat today.
Bad idea of the day: spending an evening drinking a pot of oolong tea. You spend an hour trying to fall asleep, and even though you're physically tired, you end up just staring at the ceiling.
My brain's been running over ideas about the conference paper -- sorting my thoughts, picking out quotations, running through opening lines. It's like all my thesis research is rushing back to my memory. (Have I mentioned that this paper is connected to my thesis?)
And so I'm giving up on trying to force myself to sleep, for a while. I'm going to empty some of these research thoughts out onto paper, so that they don't jumble around in my head and keep me awake too much longer.
But hey: all my best conference papers have been written in the middle of the night. It's easier for me to write in a conversational (rather than overly-formal) tone at night.
