Today, I'm going to watch Seabiscuit. An old lady from church lent it to me, and mostly I trust her taste in movies, because it's the same as mine. (It was awesome when she showed me her movie collection -- she loves movies starring Audrey Hepburn, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, and Barbara Streisand. And musicals. She loves musicals. She's never seen Hello, Dolly!, and so that's what we're going to watch, the next time Chris and I go over to her house for pizza. And did I mention that she ordered pizza and bought Chris's beloved A&W Root Beer and a big cake, for us to come over and visit? I think I'm going to keep her.)
So, I'll tell you what I think. Because I must confess that I've never had any great love for stories involving horses (and people kept giving me books like Black Beauty when I was a kid), and I thought the trailer looked pretty schmaltzy, but I do love Tobey Maguire. He's in this, right?

If this woman has the same taste in movies, I can assume this woman has Encino Man memorized? If she hasn't seen Dude, Where's My Car? tell her to watch it with Ky. Ky makes that movie way funnier.
Ha! The funny thing is that Ky won't watch Dude, Where's My Car? without you, because you make the movie way funnier.
Tobey is in it.
And I still haven't seen it, but J's parents are always saying we should. His dad gets so excited about these feel good family movies that are just so "inspirational". For that reason, I think I will NEVER see it.
I watched it with my grandma. It left her confused (but pretty much anything other than Sound of Music leaves her confused).
Ha! I just realized that I never clarified the "it" in my first sentence, so it seems like I watched Dude Where's My Car with her. It was Seabiscuit.
Would have been funnier if it was Dude, Where's My Car. And it would have explained her confusion. Although, now I am picturing Grandma saying "I know your body".
Oh yeah! I think I liked Seabiscuit. Having taken that recent course on American myth, I can see why my prof liked to recommend the movie.
But it got me, emotionally. I actually cheered out loud.
