Yes, I know that the posting has been more sparse than it has been at other times. And I'm not exactly talking about exciting things. But I've been extra bland, lately. Or my head's been a little more in the clouds.
I'm finding very little motivation to do comps work. But I need to get at it, quickly. I need to get together with one of my profs before she leaves for a month. But all I can find the motivation to do is to cook. I've had a lot of fun in the kitchen. Yesterday, I figured out how to make stuffed mushrooms. The stuffing I made for it (chopped up mushroom stems, chopped onions, chopped garlic, crumbled sausage, fresh spinach, bread crumbs, cheese and basil) was so good that it was hard keeping Chris from eating all the stuffing, before I could even get it into the mushroom caps. Next time, I think I'll do a feta and spinach stuffing. Right now, I have a steak marinating in szechwan sauce for my supper (not bad for a lonely Sunday evening supper, eh?), and I just made myself a smoothie with melon and pears.
Of course, if I had to be working in the kitchen, I'd be busy reading instead.

Maybe you should plan something for people and give yourself a kitchen project so you can get back to reading. I know - you can invite me over for stuffed mushrooms. That would be fun. And productive. Problem solved. :)
Good for you. You should definately avoid reading until you miss it a little ;)
Comps work is hard. I am supposed to be reading for my last comp but I'm actually using conference paper writing as a procrastination method. The further along I get in the PhD the more multi-faceted my procrastination becomes. It's almost anthroplogical at times.
I've added you to my academic blog links. It's sooooo nice to know someone else is slacking off in the same city as me. Har.
