Bad Idea of the Day

It seemed like such a good idea at the time. I encountered a few papers that had some serious problems (along the lines of "I'm going to need to contact the professor, to find out his policy on this"), and so I contacted the professor, and put them to the end. Contacting the professor was a good idea. Leaving them to the end was a bad idea. Especially because I also picked up late papers, and marked them right before the Problem Papers. I have found that, on average, late papers are also problematic. (You'd think that, considering the fact that they had extra time, that they wouldn't do a rush job.)

I thought my essays weren't going to take too much longer. I hit my stride. I was flying through them. I was brilliant. And then I hit the Problem Pile. It's a good thing that I don't drink.

And now it's 11:33pm, and I'm leading a seminar in the morning (and will have to do the reading in the morning as well), plus I still have to put together an 8-minute presentation on one of my essays, for tomorrow afternoon.

New plan: I take along a couple of books, and write my presentation over lunch. I'm going to bed.

I would totally have done the same thing with marking the papers... Hope you feel well rested and managed to get all your other prep done. You're so productive these days, you may need a new pseudonym! ;)
