Do you know how many people find this blog by Googling my maiden name? Who has been finding me? Who has been Googling me, but doesn't know that I'm married?
This post has been brought to you by: Paranoia as a Result of Sitemeter.
In other news, I spend my life reading. That's pretty much all that's new with me. Reading, interspersed with laundry. Wait! I vacuumed yesterday, and for a while I sat in the sunlight while I read. Oh, and the guy that usually splits the readings for one of my courses has a ridiculously high fever, and so I'll be doing more reading for that class than usual this week. (I'll just tell him what all the reading's about, because he's getting behind as a result of being sick.)
Note to self: start taking care of self.
And, also in other news, three more days until Ky's here! (This is incentive to get a little ahead on my reading, so that I don't have to spend next week like I'm spending this week.)
Yeah, that's all. Just updating compulsively.
I am wearing: pyjamas and rubber-soled slippers
I have eaten: nothing, so far. I should remedy that situation soon.
Plan for the day: I have to run over to the mall to deposit a cheque, and then bus to the University to photocopy some readings. Then, I need to do Canadian History like nobody's business, phone the guy who's sick and tell him about the readings (and also encourage him to stay home tomorrow, if he's still sick, and offer to take notes). Also I have to photocopy the readings that I'm assigning, for my presentation next Friday. Yeah, I'd better get on that.
Highlight of yesterday: a squirrel ran up the side of the house next door! Right outside my window! I filmed it! (Sigh.)

Oooh! I love squirrels! Do you get red ones over there? They're almost extinct over here, so we pretty much only see grey ones, but I still think they're cute too. :)
I have no idea. I'll have to ask my trusty biologist, except that she's currently in the Grand Canyon on vacation. I know we have brown squirrels...
Matt? Are you out there? Or are you up north? (He knows his squirrels, as well.)
I'm a trusty biologist am I? Well, I can't pass up this opportunity. My grandpa's computer should do nicely for an answer. Here is what my very minimal research turned up. DISCLAIMER: This research was not from peer reviewed sources so take it with a grain of salt.
I believe that Ms. Pink Cupcake is from the UK. Her red squirrels (Sciurus vulgaris leucourus) are actually a different species than our red squirrels (Tamiasciurus hudsonicus). Ours are found throughout much of Canada, especially BC (not sure from minimal effort research whether they are in Victoria though). Cupcake's are facing major population loss. Sadly this is due in part (along with habitat loss, disease, etc.) to North America's Grey Squirrel which was brought over somehow and and started invading.
I really do love squirrels.
Shannon! I knew she'd follow through with a technical answer. Because she's awesome.
So, there you go, folks. A biology lesson from my most favourite person to ever don a hazmat suit or refer to kelp forests as "cool."
