Joyous Greetings from the airport's Starbucks

[I wrote this during my hour and a half layover in Calgary, because there is only paid wireless access there – booo!!]

Realising how much time I had to kill at the airport, I was drawn to the terminal’s Starbucks by all its Christmas latte ads. “It’s not too late!” one chalkboard ad promised me. And so I went up and ordered a tall eggnog latte.

“I’m sorry,” the lady at the counter informed me, eyeing me like I was crazy. “Christmas is over.”

In a moment of panic (make a split-second decision on a few hours’ sleep, and after being constantly elbowed by the nine-year-old next to me on the last flight?) I got a Caramel Macchiato instead.

In far more pleasant news, I was on the same flight as one of the General Fools. He actually let me ahead of him in line back in Regina. I’ve been having some serious flashbacks to my first two years of University, as a result.

Well, I guess it’s Anne’s House of Dreams for me, for the next hour and twenty minutes. No hope of sleep now that I have a latte in me.

[During the second leg of the journey I no longer had an all-elbows 9 year old beside me; instead, I had a lady with a pearl-covered sweater and with hair encrusted with perfumey hairspray.

Public Service Announcement from perfume allergy sufferers: if you must wear hairspray when you're trapped in a tiny space with a whole lot of people, wear unscented hairspray. It exists. In fact, it's readily available. Then, your seatmates aren't ill when they arrive at their destinations. Let's all consider each other's needs, when we're in public, folks.]

Dude, who was the General Fool on your flight? That takes me back. I checked out their site. Man, when did Jayden get hot. Unfortunately he is 3 feet tall.

Why does Jayden look like a young Colin James? Must be a Regina thing.

Mike Fly was on my flight. And Janny, you know that it's a law of nature: those who go to high school with us get hot looooong after they leave.

I completely agree with the comment on Jayden. I used to have a huge crush on Mike Fly but then when I had the Fools come to my hometown to do a show for my Active Youth program that I ran, then I developed a bigger crush on Jayden. Sigh.
