Five More Things

Pink Cupcake tagged me with this one, on the rationale that it's a good excuse for me to procrastinate. How well she knows me...

Remove the blog in the top spot from the following list and bump everyone up one place. Then add your blog to the bottom slot, like so:

Next select five people to tag:

I'll leave in PC's disclaimer: "Oooh, whilst I like being tagged, I know not everyone does. So, it'd be great if any of the following wanted to give this one a go, but please don't worry if you'd rather not."

What were you doing 10 years ago?

At this time in 1996, I was in the second half of Grade 10. That means that I was heavily involved in my school advanced program, practising with my choir and band toward our "spring" concert and then our tour to Calgary, hanging out with Ky a lot, and spending my life counting down to the next Camp.

What were you doing 1 year ago?

As we can all see in my archives, exactly a year ago (after church) I wrote a chunk of my thesis at Java Express, which prompted me to write my first Coffee House Junkie Review.

Five snacks you enjoy:

  • Chips (especially Cool Ranch and Dill Pickle).
  • Popcorn, covered with seasoning.
  • Hummus, especially when we'd buy Naan bread to dip in it. (Speaking of which, I miss hummus!)
  • Apparently this strawberry frozen fruit bar that I'm currently eating;
  • Bananas, cut into coins, with peanut butter spread on them.

Five songs to which you know all the lyrics: (Only five? I know pretty much all the words to every song I like! -QoWP)

  • Both the movie and Broadway versions of "A Boy Like That" from West Side Story;
  • The Spiderman theme song (meaning that, while I love Michael BublĂ©'s version, the line he changes makes me crazy);
  • The entire record of Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, but especially "A Day in the Life;"
  • "Bohemian Rhapsody" (and I've known all the words since either grade 7 or 8, when we learned it in music class);
  • Ella Fitzgerald's "Blue Skies," down to the specific noises she makes when she scats.

Five things you would do if you were a millionaire:

  • (Practical answer first) Pay off all our debts, and then give some to our families, and buy a house near where we're already living;
  • Establish a scholarship, and make it one where you don't have to be absolutely the top student to get it (they get enough scholarships already);
  • Own far too many DVD sets;
  • Put a lot of money into orphanages in India;
  • Build an absolutely energy-efficient house, like the kind that Chris is always scheming about.

Five bad habits:

  • Not putting my things away;
  • Procrastination (obviously);
  • Worrying;
  • Eating certain foods although I'm allergic to them (cheese);
  • Procrastinating on the internet.

Five things you like doing:

  • Travelling;
  • Spending time with loved ones;
  • Drinking tea while watching a movie, having all the little twinkly lights lit (Meg and I started that one);
  • Hanging out with Christopher;
  • Reading a good book.

Five things you would never wear again:

  • Those white tennis shoes I got at the beginning of grade 1, after they were consumed in the elementary school fire;
  • Anything made of wool;
  • Stirrup pants: those were a bad idea;
  • Overall shorts with pantyhose and dress shoes, after that wintery day when I tried to imitate the current grade 8 girl fad. None of the other girls wore that combination again, after that day either. (Can we say that I made that fad "jump the shark"?)
  • A work uniform based in a polo shirt and khaki pants, if I can help it.

Favourite toys:

  • Lizzie, Miss Mowcher and Dobbin;
  • That doll house that my aunt and uncle made for us kids, and made spool versions of us;
  • My webcam;
  • The bouncy ball that I got for Christmas, that flashes crazily when you bounce it;
  • Playmobil. I seriously love that stuff.

GET OVER YOUR TENNIS SHOES FROM GRADE ONE! Mom had no way of knowing the school was going to burn down the first time she convinced you to keep them at school.
Mom didn't take me to the doctor for two weeks after I fractured my wrist in grade 8. I got over that. I think you can get over tennis shoes from grade one that would not even fit you anymore.

(Side note: Although, obviously Janny is NOT over the whole fractured wrist thing b/c she has just mentioned it. Right??)

PS Maryanne, Could you get links to the other blogs on the list so that people can go to the blogs on the top of your list? Thanks. Love you.

Miss Mary, you have every right to be upset about the tennis shoes. I'm still upset about SO many things that I really oughtn't to be. But whatev. I like grudges.

Also, our dog Madison has that exact same ball that glows when you bounce it. Hm.

Bronwyn, just for you, I added the links. It took some digging, but fortunately B* had the links in her version.

And if Dad is allowed to continue to complain about his Grade 4 light blue winter jacket, I can make jokes about the one day I actually left my favourite shoes and gym bag at school. (aka "The Day the School Burnt Down")

everyone deserves to have one grudge from childhood. like, when sandcastle daycare wrote my name on my binky in PERMANENT MARKER. you leave it there by mistake one night. ONE NIGHT. and you get it back the next day with black marker etched on there for eternety!? oooh, the agony of it all.

Seriously, Janny. You really ought to give the girl a break. It's perfectly normal to hold grudges over trivial stupid things. It's when the things are serious that it's trouble.

But what about Moxy Fruvous' Spider-man?

So awesome.

You know, I don't know if I've heard their version. I'll be Chris has it on his computer, though. I'll have to listen to it.
