Oddities 'n Ends

Issue One: There was a guy riding a unicycle around the campus today. Not performing or anything, just travelling. I lasted until after he'd passed by me, and then I burst out laughing. And that made me look like a crazy person: laughing alone. Who rides a unicycle?

Issue Two:

Your 80s Heartthrob Is

Jason Bateman

Take that, world! No Kirk Cameron or Uncle Jesse for me!
Issue Three: Yet again, I have the house to myself and yet I'm not reading Lipset. This must be remedied. And it's Chris's first day at work, and he's very emphatic that he's not a telemarketer. He just wears a headset phone and calls strangers to ask them survey questions. He's the "it'll only take 15 minutes of your time" telephone survey guy. But, it pays the bills, almost sufficiently. It's a good start, and hopefully they'll give him more hours.

hello! my 80's heartthrob is scott baio. i knew it! we're soooo meant to be.

oh, and i was having the most terrible, horrible no good very bad day last year and was walking out in the campus - there was nobody around, and all of a sudden this dude on a unicycle went by. let's just say he made my day take a turn for the better.

I know someone who rides a unicycle. And I had fun "not being a telemarketer." Only I really wasn't (not that Chris is). Ah, Cutco. Once I got Satan on an answering machine. It was scary.

I totally sounded like a five year old there.

The dreaded Cutco job: I never felt like more of a dishonest businessperson than I did at that job. I felt like I died a little every shift I took.

It took me 3 tries, but I finally got Alex P. Keaton. At first it gave me Kirk Cameron, and then it gave me Bill Gates, and I knew those were just falsehoods. But Alex P., thou art mine.
I think Jason Bateman is my 2005 heartthrob, though. Sigh.

Dude, I saw a guy on a unicycle yesterday on my way home from church. What is up with the unicycle revival? Is there something we should know? Is an army of unicyclists going to take over the world while juggling flaming batons?
My unicycler had a helmet and knee pads on. Safety first!

EAT IT!! Michael J Fox on the first try. Ow Ow!!! I knew it.

Ha, there was a guy in junior high who always rode a unicycle to SCHOOL...now that was weird, but talk about guts...it was junior high!

Ha! Mine was Bill Gates-- surprisingly fitting, since J's a computer geek. I'm marrying a not-wealthy version of my '80s heartthrob!

I approve of Lynnie's safety-first unicyclist. The one here was wearing a fedora and a green velvet suit jacket. Maybe the fedora hid his helmet. (Helmet covers for those unicyclists who are overly concerned with appearances?)

And I love that I'm only hearing from females on this topic. And I'm glad that none of you got Uncle Jesse. Well, I suspect that justanothergirl did, but she's just hiding it from us.

Ha! I re-read Amanda's comment and forgot that she got Scott Baio. That's awesome.

The quiz was only designed for females. I tried to take it but it got wierd when it asked me what kind of girl I am.

Hey Maryanne,

I figured you'd be more likely to check this than e-mail; just wanted to let you know I made it in safely. Thanks again for the fabulous week!

For posterity: Chris's 80s heart throb started off being Kirk Cameron, and then he went back and changed something and now it's Bill Gates.

Maryanne... I got Uncle Jessie. On my first try. And I couldn't NOT get him. Sigh... Thanks for MOCKING ME.

My 80's heartthrob was Scott Baio. It would be more exciting if I even knew who he was.
